That is all I have done at the moment in my van, but I'm always dreaming up future projects. Here are some possibilities I've thought of for the future:

  • Tapping into the van's door locks
    • I always thought it would be cool to tap into the door locking mechanism on the van so I could lock and unlock the doors with my phone. I'm slightly afraid to start tampering with this though since breaking something could be expensive

  • Adding monitoring of the battery charge
    • I currently have a Renogy Battery Monitor installed to monitor the charge of my house batteries. Unfortunately this monitor doesn't have any smart capabilities and I wasn't able to figure out any way to hack into it. The easiest solution would be to replace this battery monitor with the Victron SmartShunt which I should be able to read through bluetooth using the Raspberry Pi

  • Accessing Home Assistant Remotely
    • It would be nice to be able to access Home Assistant remotely to check on things when I'm not near the van. This however requires an internet connection which I'm currently just using my phone's hotspot for. It would be nice to get a dedicated hotspot so I could set this up, or maybe Starlink when it becomes available for vans/RVs

  • Google Home Integration
    • With a dedicated internet connection for the van, I would then have the possibility to integrate with a Google Home device and control Home Assistant with my voice

  • Adding better screens to the van
    • I recently replaced the old phone I was using with a Kindle Fire tablet, but it would also be nice to have a screen in the center console for monitoring systems while driving

  • Improving the lovelace interface
    • I haven't spent much time playing around with the lovelace interface in Home Assistant, but I've seen some very nice looking setups that some people have created. It would be nice to create a more aesthetically pleasing interface for my setup. So far the only custom element I've done is created a van tilt card which shows the tilt of the van in degrees and has a picture of the van that automatically tilts
